Let’s build a red carpet for pedestrians and cyclists!

Sustainable Mobility from African Perspective/ Let’s ride and learn together!

The Department of Cycling and Sustainable Mobility, University of Kassel, in collaboration with Hochschule Karlsruhe and three African Universities are conducting a project called CAMA –Collaboration on Active Mobility in Africa. It is a collaborative research project, funded by BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) and DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).  The project aims to promote walking and cycling in Africa and to exchange knowledge on sustainable mobility between Africa and Germany. The representatives from all partner universities are travelling to Germany to also participate at the Radwoche in Kassel. On 9th April they will visit Kassel to experience the local cycling culture and be the guests of a panel discussion on ‘Let’s build a red carpet for pedestrians and cyclists! ‘from 18:00 to 19:00 at the SDG-Lab will be one of them. During the panel discussion, the panellists will share the unique character of African mobility systems, the opportunities, and challenges on active mobility in Africa, their experiences on sustainable mobility especially cycling in their respective country and in Africa in general. The main objective of this panel is to exchange knowledge between two diverse continents: Africa and Germany. Despite the differing contexts, both regions face a common future threat: ‚motorization‘. The session will give us a deeper insight into this pressing issue and pave a way to collaborate to navigate these challenges together.

Participation

Anyone interested on the global issue of sustainable mobility can participate. The event takes place on Tuesday the 9th of April from 18:00 to 19:00 at the SDG+ Lab (Wilhelmstraße 21, 34117 Kassel).
